\u201cDo not let your adornment be merely outward\u2014arranging the hair, wearing gold, or putting on fine apparel\u2014 rather let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the incorruptible beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious in the sight of God.\u201d<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

In this passage, Peter does not explicitly condemn the use of makeup; rather, he emphasises that a woman’s focus should be on cultivating a “gentle and quiet spirit,” suggesting that inner character holds greater value than excessive concern with outward appearance.<\/p>\n

The global focus on self-care and wellness has significantly driven the expansion and innovation of the beauty and personal care industry in recent years. Notably, the makeup market alone is projected to grow from $43.61 billion in 2024 to $70.70 billion by 2032. Given the substantial economic influence of this industry, it is worth examining the role believers play within it. While makeup itself is not inherently problematic, its use can be distorted in ways that promote vanity or insecurity. Therefore, Christians must engage with and contribute to this industry in a way that upholds biblical values, guiding its influence toward integrity and responsible use.<\/p>\n

During the 40 days of prayer and fasting at Kingdom Ambassadors Centre, a key and pinnacle verse was Genesis 1:28 NKJV:<\/p>\n

\u201cThen God blessed them, and God said to them, ‘Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.\u201d<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

Therefore, how can the make-up industry be dominated in this fashion according to the Word of God?<\/p>\n

Sikemi has a make-up business called \u2018Beauty by Kemi,\u2019 primarily located in Bedfordshire and London. She endeavours to carry out this Kingdom business with the essence captured in Colossians 3:23-24 NKJV:<\/p>\n

\u2018\u2019And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ.\u2019\u2019<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

Starting out in 2019, Sikemi built Beauty By Kemi by building a brand and online presence. By posting content and tutorials on Instagram, a clientele began to build when friends and family began to ask for their makeup to be done.<\/p>\n

The business was established through prayer, with Christ as the chief cornerstone upon which it was built. Built on a solid foundation and with her gift making room for her, as stated in Proverbs 18:16, Beauty By Kemi has flourished into a successful Kingdom business\u2014even within an industry often described as oversaturated.<\/p>\n

Sikemi answered some questions to provide insight into how her make-up business can aid the kingdom, and carry out the command given to man in Genesis 1:28.<\/p>\n

How is your business taking dominion as an example of \u2018taking dominion\u2019 by way of Genesis 1:28?<\/u><\/b><\/p>\n

“By building my business, I\u2019m not just applying makeup. I\u2019m creating opportunities, building confidence in women, and setting a standard of excellence. That\u2019s one way I live out \u2018taking dominion\u2019 by multiplying my gifts, managing my resources well, and influencing my industry positively.”<\/p>\n

What are some \u2018mountains\u2019 you faced in the make-up industry that have prevented you from fully operating in dominion, and how have you combatted them? <\/u><\/b><\/p>\n

“One of the biggest challenges was competition, and it\u2019s easy to feel overshadowed in such a crowded industry. I overcame it by focusing on my unique style, being consistent, partnering with God and trusting that my work would make room for me.”<\/p>\n

If there\u2019s one thing you would say to your clients to get to possess dominion, what would it be? Bear in mind, not all of your clients may be believers.<\/u><\/b><\/p>\n

“You already carry greatness within you. Whether you believe it or not, you are capable of more than you think. Don\u2019t let fear or comparison stop you from stepping out, owning your gifts, and walking in confidence. In the place of business, trusting in God is key!”<\/p>\n
