Apologetics and inter-faith debates online pull in massive engagement, as people are able to spectate, comment and argue their beliefs globally. It\u2019s convenient and it\u2019s riveting. Across social media platforms such as TikTok and Youtube, apologetic and religious debates can encompass millions of views.<\/p>\n

Entertainment is defined as \u201cany activity, performance, or form of media that holds attention, engages an audience, and provides pleasure, amusement, or diversion\u201d. This means that apologetics can be viewed as a form of entertainment. The danger with this is that some people may join the apologetics space, not with pure intentions but to amass viewers, fame and money. This is even seen with some who challenge the Christian faith, not with a heart to have their questions and issues addressed, but with the intention of appearing to \u201cwin\u201d an argument and potentially go viral.<\/p>\n

What Does The Bible Say About Apologetics?<\/u><\/p>\n
The bible makes it clear what the Christian stance should be on apologetics and defending the faith.<\/p>\n

1 Peter 3:15 (NKJV) \u201cBut sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear;\u201d<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n Colossians 2:8 (NKJV) \u201cBeware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ.\u201d<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n <\/p>\n According to scripture, all believers should be able to make a defense for their faith. The word \u2018defense\u2019 in 1 Peter 3:15 is translated from the Greek word \u2018apologia\u2019, which as discussed earlier, is where \u2018apologetics\u2019 derives from.
